    The most prestigious undergraduate award at The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) will be presented to 23 seniors in April. The Distinguished Senior Award honors top graduating seniors on the Ohio State Columbus campus who exemplify the CFAES mission in areas such as academics and scholarship, research and innovation, service and involvement, and influence and leadership.     The Agriculture Food and Human Values Society (AFHVS) presented an award of excellence to members at their annual meeting in Boston, MA on June 3, 2023. The team of Dr. Shoshanah Inwood of The Ohio State University, Dr. Florence Becot of the National Farm Medicine Center at the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute and Dr. Andrea Rissing of Arizona State University received the AFHVS Excellence in Scholarship Award.

  6. Recognizing Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring

    Nicole Sintov, assistant professor of behavior, decision making and sustainability in the School of Environment and Natural Resources received the Office of Student Academic Success—Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry 2019 Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring Award at a luncheon at the Faculty Club on April 24. The award honors individuals who have demonstrated success in mentoring undergraduates in their research and/or creative inquiry endeavors. Undergraduates are invited to submit nominations that describe how their research mentor has supported and inspired them to grow intellectually as a researcher, encouraged and enabled them to reach their future goals and supported and encouraged them on a personal level. 

  7. Healthy Land-Water Systems Team wins award at the 2019 CFAES Annual Research Conference.

    Healthy Land-Water Systems Wins Multi-disciplinary Team Award

    "Healthy Land-Water Systems: Water Quality, Economics, and Human Behavior" won the Multi-disciplinary Team Award at the 2019 CFAES Annual Research Conference on Monday, April 22 at the Nationwide Ohio Farm Bureau and 4-H Center in Columbus, OH.

    Accepting the award were team leaders and faculty members at The Ohio State University - Robyn Wilson, School of Environment and Natural Resources; Elena Irwin, Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics; and Jay Martin, Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering.

    Japan Prize goes to Ohio State soil scientist Rattan Lal

    Rattan Lal, a soil scientist at The Ohio State University, has been awarded the 2019 Japan Prize, considered one of the most prestigious honors in science and technology.  Lal is the first Ohio State scientist and the first soil scientist to ever receive the prize. He is Distinguished University Professor of Soil Science at the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences(CFAES).  The Japan Prize recognizes scientists and engineers from around the world for original and outstanding achievements that “not only contribute to the advancement of science and technology, but also promote peace and prosperity for all mankind,” the Japan Prize Foundation said today (Jan. 16) in announcing the award.

  9. Richard Moore, emeritus professor in the School of Environment and Natural Resources and adjunct emeritus professor in the Department of Anthropology, will receive the Public Policy Award from the American Anthropological Association in November.

  10. SENR Research Recognized at Annual OARDC Conference

    SENR's Dr. Richard Moore and Dr. Robyn Wilson are part of the multidisciplinary Vegetable Safety Research and Extension Team studying how produce gets contaminated, then uses that knowledge to develop new control methods that are science-based, affordable, socially acceptable and environmentally sustainable.  At this year's Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) Annual Research Conference they were awarded the Multi-disciplinary Team Research Award.  The prestigious OARDC Multi-disciplinary Team Research Award (only awarded every three years) recognizes scientists who have made outstanding research contributions in advancement of food, family, agricultural and environmental sciences and technology.
