    International Initiative Enables Student Research on Global Ecosystems

    Grace Gutierrez, an undergraduate student at The Ohio State University, recently completed a four-month research abroad project in Norway. Gutierrez studies forest ecology within the School of Environment and Natural Resources, with a special emphasis in plant interactions with the environment. Gutierrez went to Norway in June 2023, where she matched with a professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). She was able to develop her own research project, in which she and her team spent the entire growing season on a mountain in central Norway, studying seedling success and growth in native grass.  Learn more about the experience and what made this opportunity possible>>

  3. For two weeks in June, 12 students will travel Iceland’s diverse landscape learning about the natural and cultural history of the country.

    Many students in the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) and across the university will participate in education abroad this summer. The school is providing education abroad programs in Australia, Iceland, New Zealand, and for the first time, Tanzania.

    Australia Education Abroad Students Remove Macro-Algae from Coral Reef

    Students in the Sustaining Human Societies and the Environment - Australia Education Abroad program participated in a service-learning opportunity where they removed macro-algae, or seaweed from a coral reef off of Magnetic Island (Australia). Their efforts assisting the Reef Recovery Project were recentlyhighlighted by ABC NorthQueensland.
