    Brown Bag: Linking Water Quality With Aquatic Biodiversity In Rural Ugandan Communities

    Assistant Professor of Aquatic Physiological Ecology Suzanne Gray will discuss on March 8 her Water Across the World project, where she works with students in rural Uganda and those in rural Ohio to connect them on issues of water quality in their respective communities. She'll be sharing project at a forum that highlights the work of Ohio State faculty who have had significant experience working in Africa.
  2. New Book Review Editors Team Named

    Kerry Ard, assistant professor of environmental and natural resource sociology in the School of Environment and Natural Resources at The Ohio State University and Associate Professor Kishi Animashaun Ducre at Syracuse University are the new book review editors for the scientific journal Society & Natural Resources (SNR). SNR is the official monthly journal of the International Association of Society and Natural Resources (IASNR). SNR publishes both solicited and unsolicited book reviews and review essays.     Douglas Jackson-Smith, faculty member in the School of Environment and Natural Resources, participated in a Forum of Scientific Society Leaders held at the National Academies of Sciences in Washington DC on December 7, 2016. The meeting was designed to gather leaders of a wide range of scientific societies to respond to a recently released Study on Genetically Engineered Crops: Experiences and Prospects.  Jackson-Smith is a Professor of Water Security and joined OSU in August 2016 as part of the InFACT Discovery Theme hiring initiative. He is incoming president of the Rural Sociological Society and represented the RSS at the forum.

    Jeremy Bruskotter, associate professor in The Ohio State University’s School of Environment and Natural Resources is one of seven scientific experts featured in a new film that raises concerns about removing federal endangered species protections for Yellowstone’s iconic Grizzly Bears.  The scientists describe the current threats facing Greater Yellowstone grizzly bears, make recommendations on recovery efforts and describe public  support for these efforts.
  6. Dr. Jeffrey Jacquet joins the School of Environment and Natural Resources as an assistant professor of Rural Sociology.

    Please join us in welcoming Jeffrey Jacquet to the School of Environment and Natural Resources.  Jacquet joins the school as an assistant professor of Rural Sociology and will continue a research program focused on rural communities, including the impacts of energy development  and other environmental changes.
