    Congratulations to Professor Lal. He is recognized as one of Thomas Reuters' Highly Cited Researchers for his contributions to the field of agricultural sciences - 2016 marks his third consecutive appearance on this list of influential scientific minds.

    Faculty Member Awarded Excellence in Teaching Award

    Brian H. Lower, associate professor in the School of Environment and Natural Resources at The Ohio State University, received the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) 2016 Excellence in College and University Teaching Award for Food and Agricultural Sciences at the 129th annual meeting of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities held in Austin, Texas.  Lower received the award for the U.S. North Central Region, which includes colleges and universities in IL, IN, IA, KS, MI, MN, MO, NE, ND, OH, SD, WI.  The award honors individuals who have a sustained pattern of excellence in college and university teaching in the fields of agriculture, natural resources, veterinary science, and/or human sciences.  The award is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU).

  3. Reception held to honor faculty and staff making a difference

    Congratulations to Ms. Susan Burks (nominated by Gina Volpe, Sphinx) and Dr. Robyn Wilson (nominated by Kathryn Connolly, Mortar Board) for making a difference in the lives of their students. The two were honored at the 26th Annual Faculty and Staff Recognition Reception for Mortar Board Senior Honor Society and Sphinx Senior Class Honorary held last week.

  4. Sullivan chosen for Fulbright biodiversity chair

    Mazeika Sullivan, associate professor and assistant director, School of Environment and Natural Resources, has been selected for a 2015-16 Fulbright U.S. Scholar grant — specifically, the Fulbright-National University Distinguished Chair in Biodiversity and Sustainable Development award. The award, based at the National University of Colombia, seeks to promote, communicate and exchange new academic and research developments in the fields of biodiversity and sustainability with the goal of developing research collaboration among the academic, scientific and practitioner communities from different fields of knowledge at a national and international level. 
  5. Wildlife Program Specialist Recognized by Ohio Forestry Association

    In a surprise visit to SENR’s monthly faculty meeting on Friday, March 28, Ohio State Interim President Joseph A. Alutto presented Mazeika Sullivan, assistant professor in the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) with the university’s 2014 Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching.
  9. SENR Distinguished Professor chosen as one of the first Global Dryland Champions

    CFAES’s Dr. Rattan Lal has been chosen as one of the first Global Dryland Champions by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. The honor, according to a letter by Luc Gnacadja of Benin, the convention’s executive secretary, recognizes “those who have made outstanding contributions to our efforts for achieving a land-degradation-neutral world.”  
  10. SENR Reception Recognizes Dr. Hendrick's Leadership

    School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) faculty, staff, alumni and students gathered yesterday (6/4) to recognize and thank Dr. Ron Hendrick for his leadership, service and dedication to the School and to wish him the best as he assumes his new role as senior associate dean for the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University. In this new position, Dr. Hendrick will initially oversee facilities and capital planning, and academic personnel.
