Dr. Joe Campbell, lecturer and research associate, School of Environment and Natural Resources, has been selected as a 2016-2017 Fulbright U.S. Scholar. As a Fulbright Scholar, Campbell will be fostering a partnership between the University of Dodoma (UDOM) and The Ohio State University. The University of Dodoma is located in the capital city of Tanzania.
During May Session 2014 School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) Research Associate and Lecturer Joe Campbell, Kim Burton, a professor in City and Regional Planning (CRP) and 10 OSU students traveled to Ghana to participate in the interdisciplinary, Study Abroad program, “Ghana Sustainable Change” (CRPLAN 5798).
Local communities experiencing the shale oil and gas boom often realize early that they have little control in regulating that development. That authority lies at the state level. And there’s bound to be conflict among neighbors -- winners, losers and concerned citizens -- as shale development increases.
