    Congratulations to Dr. Suzanne Gray, who was elected to serve as President-Elect for the Ohio Chapter of the American Fisheries Society at this year’s Annual joint meeting of the Ohio Aquaculture Association and the Ohio Chapter of the American Fisheries Society, held on 26–27 January 2018 at the Quest Conference Center in Columbus, Ohio. The mission of the Ohio Chapter of the American Fisheries Society is "to promote conservation of fisheries and aquatic resources by providing information, professional services, and opportunities for aquatic stewardship to Ohio’s fisheries professionals, educators, students, and conservationists."

  2. Rattan Lal, Director of the Carbon Management and Sequestration Center, received the Honoris Causa degree from the Universitat de Lleida, Spain on June 13.

    Graduating students, their families and faculty and staff in the School of Environment and Natural Resources gathered to celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of the Class of 2017. A reception honoring those graduating from the School of Environment and Natural Resources was held Friday, May 5, 2017 in the Kottman Hall lobby. Light refreshments were served with remarks from The Ohio State University Alumni Association and the president of the School of Environment and Natural Resources Alumni Society (SENRAS), Matt Perry (Class of 2010). 

  4. Lower Receives Distinguished Teaching Award

    Brian Lower, an associate professor in the School of Environment and Natural Resources was presented with the Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching at the 2017 Faculty Awards program and reception held on May 2 at the Wexner Center for the Arts.  The award honors faculty members at The Ohio State University for superior teaching.

    Ohio State Student Awarded Udall Scholarship

    Tal Shutkin, an Ohio State University sophomore from Shaker Heights, Ohio, has been named a 2017 Udall Scholar.  The Udall Scholarship recognizes 50 college sophomores and juniors committed to careers related to the environment with a $7,000 scholarship; the award is also open to Native American students interested in tribal policy or native healthcare. An honors student, Shutkin is pursuing a degree in environmental policy and decision making in the School of Environment and Natural Resources in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. He is Ohio State’s 12th Udall Scholar.

    Faculty member receives Outstanding Teacher Award

    Congratulations to Lauren Pintor, assistant professor of aquatic ecology in the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR), who was awarded the Rodney F. Plimpton Outstanding Teacher Award. The Rodney F. Plimpton Teaching Award recognizes excellence in teaching, both in and out of the formal classroom in the College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences.

  7. On April 6, the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences recognized the achievements of students, faculty and staff in the college at the 2017 Celebration of Students Banquet.

  8. Rattan Lal honored by Elsevier

    Rattan Lal, director of the Carbon Management and Sequestration Center at The Ohio State University, was honored with the Elsevier Atlas award March 31, for his journal article “Food Security in a Changing Climate,"  published in the “Ecohydrology & Hydrobiology" journal in April 2013.

    Faculty at The Ohio State University were recognized on March 27, 2017 at the Faculty Recognition Reception hosted by President Michael Drake and Senior Vice President for Research Caroline Whitacre. The reception, held at the Faculty Club, honored Ohio State faculty members who received national or international awards during the period 2016-2017. Faculty members whose achievements reached outside or across academic disciplines were also recognized.

  10. John O'Meara, an alumnus of the School of Environment and Natural Resources was recognized for his distinguished career and outstanding contributions to natural resources and conservation.

    Congratulations to John O'Meara, who was recognized at this year’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences 2017 Alumni Awards Luncheon.  John was recognized with the College’s Distinguished Alumni Award, which gives public recognition to those men and women who have brought distinction to themselves and to the college through their commitment and leadership. The awards luncheon was held March 4, 2016 at the Fawcett Event Center on the campus of The Ohio State University.
