    International Initiative Enables Student Research on Global Ecosystems

    Grace Gutierrez, an undergraduate student at The Ohio State University, recently completed a four-month research abroad project in Norway. Gutierrez studies forest ecology within the School of Environment and Natural Resources, with a special emphasis in plant interactions with the environment. Gutierrez went to Norway in June 2023, where she matched with a professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). She was able to develop her own research project, in which she and her team spent the entire growing season on a mountain in central Norway, studying seedling success and growth in native grass.  Learn more about the experience and what made this opportunity possible>>

  2. SENR Graduate Student Awarded NSF Fellowship to Conduct Research in Japan

    Lumarie Pérez-Guzmán, a graduate student in the School of Environment and Natural Resources is a recipient of the competitive National Science Foundation East Asia and Pacific Summer Institute (EAPSI) fellowship award for 2014. Pérez-Guzmán is spending the summer in Japan conducting research at Kanazawa University in the lab of Dr. Yoshihiro Fukumori, a professor in the Department of Life Science and expert in research related to magnetotactic bacteria (MTB) and environmental microbiology. The research experience is also funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
