    Dr. Steve Lyon joined the editorial board of the newly launched Journal of Water Resources, Engineering, Management and Policy. The journal seeks to raise awareness and empower water stakeholders with up to date water sector information.

    School of Environment and Natural Resources Associate Professor Steve Lyon recently convened a session entitled “Let citizens with smartphones modernize water resources management” at World Water Week. This year’s global event, with 13,000 participants from 188 countries attending the conference, had the theme of Water Security for All.

    Sustainability Appoints Faculty Member as Editor-in-Chief of New Section Area

    School of Environment and Natural Resources faculty member Steve Lyon has been appointed Section Editor-in-Chief for the new Sustainable Water Management section of the MDPI journal Sustainability.  Sustainable water management means to ensure using water in a way that meets both current and future socio-economical ecological demand. This section is aimed at improving the development and utilization of sustainable water resources management to meet increasing water demand worldwide. This section will provide information for water managers for managing water by applying sustainable solutions with a foreseeable risk.

    A watershed moment for U.S. water quality

    A new federal rule that determines how the Clean Water Act is implemented leaves millions of miles of streams and acres of wetlands unprotected based on selective interpretation of case law and a distortion of scientific evidence, researchers say in a new article in ScienceMažeika Sullivan, director of the Schiermeier Olentangy River Wetland Research Park at The Ohio State University is the lead author on the article.  Read more about the new rule and what it means for now-unprotected waters in the Ohio State News release by Emily Caldwell.

     

  5. Educational Opportunities for Water Professionals Announced

    Climate and Sustainable Communities a multi-state, multi-organization initiative with funding provided by the Great Lakes Regional Water Program with collaborators from The Ohio State University, Michigan State University (MSU), the University of Wisconsin, the River Network, Ohio Sea Grant, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will offer two distance education programs for water professionals this spring.
