London Michel

SENR Ambassador Co-PresidentAmbassador President - London Michel
Email: michel.216@osu.edu
Hometown: Powell, Ohio
Major: Environmental Science
Minor: History
Specialization: Honors Research Path

Career Interests:  After graduation, I hope to go on to pursue a graduate degree abroad and eventually become a professor. I want to pursue field-based research and am interested in paleoclimatology.

Favorite Part of SENR/OSU: SENR honestly feels like its own community and family within Ohio State. I love the smaller size of SENR because it allows you to have a ton of classes with a lot of the same people which has helped me create some amazing friendships! The faculty are also so passionate about their fields of study and research which makes class so exciting and engaging! The school has so many amazing opportunities to help support us students and prepare us for our future careers.

Internship/Research Experience: I had the amazing opportunity to co-direct a nonprofit summer camp that helps kids develop their sensory skills through nature-based activities called TimberNook! I got to help on the planning and operations side and helped pilot a new camp style. This past summer I also began working on my honors research thesis through the Glacier Environmental Change research group at the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center. I went on a research trip to Great Basin National Park out in Nevada to collect data and will be working on my thesis this coming school year!

Email: tebbe.34@buckeyemail.osu.edu
Hometown: Dublin, Ohio
MajorEnvironment, Economy, Development, and Sustainability
Specialization: Sustainability and Business
Second Major: Film Studies

Career Interests: After graduation, I hope to find a career that combines my interests in sustainability, business, and creative media. I would love to work for an organization like National Geographic or in corporate sustainability communications. Ohio State has an amazing alumni network, and the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) has outstanding graduation and career outcomes, so I know have the connections and support system to obtain a rewarding career!

Favorite Part of SENR/OSU: The SENR community is truly one-of-a-kind. It’s easy to feel like a number at a university as large as Ohio State, but SENR creates a small university feel on a large urban campus. Everyone, from the students to the faculty, is so friendly and supportive of your academic goals. With small class sizes in many SENR courses, you truly get to know your peers throughout your college experience; I met many of my friends through my classes!

Internship/Research Experience: I have been lucky to work 5 internships throughout my time at Ohio State. During the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college, I worked as a Design Intern at my family’s engineering firm, Tebbe Civil Engineering, LLC. At the beginning of my sophomore year, I worked as a Zero Waste Stadium Student Assistant for the Department of Athletics, educating vendors and fans about sustainability during Ohio State home football games. In December 2023, I accepted the role of Water Resource intern for The Ohio State University Facilities Operations and Development, a job that I proudly held for about 2 years. In this role, I audited academic buildings to determine water usage patterns and identify inefficiencies. During Summer 2024, I interned at Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District as an Outreach intern. Now, I am an Undergraduate Recruitment Student Coordinator (SENR Ambassador Co-President) and I could not be more grateful for this role and all the incredible professional experiences I have had throughout my time as a student at Ohio State.

Other Campus Involvements:

  • Alpha Phi Omega
  • Ambassador for the Department of Film, Theatre, and Media Arts
