Meet the 2023-2024 SENR Ambassador Co-Presidents:

Gwen Stamper

SENR Ambassador Co-PresidentSLB1
Stamper.107@osu.edu
Hometown: Dayton, OH
Major: Forestry, Fisheries, and Wildlife and German (Dual Degree)
Specialization: Fisheries and Wildlife

Career Interests: Following graduation I hope to work for the National Parks out west! I am also pursuing a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award which would allow me to live in Germany and assist in English classrooms for a year.

Favorite Part of SENR/OSU: My favorite part of SENR is hands-down the community! Students, faculty and staff all share a unique passion within SENR that I have yet to find anywhere else and really makes me feel at home within Ohio State. I also absolutely love the hands-on outdoor lab classes that are built into my curriculum (especially the fish classes).

Internship/Research Experience: I am an entomology student assistant for the Strange Lab on campus, which studies bumble bee health and genetics. I assist with a variety of projects such as bumble bee rearing, bee and colony dissections, wild bee handling, and much more. This allowed me to gain invaluable field and lab experience that I can’t wait to apply to my future positions!

Other Campus Involvements:

  • CFAES Towers Agricultural Honorary
  • German Club
  • ENR Scholars Alum

Maddie Wilson

SENR Ambassador Co-PresidentSLB1
Wilson.4477@osu.edu
Hometown: Dayton, OH
Major: Forestry, Fisheries, and Wildlife
Specialization: Honors - Aquatic Sciences

Career Interests: I plan to attend graduate school after graduation. I would eventually like to work as a research scientist/ecologist for a government agency!

Favorite Part of SENR/OSU: SENR is full of amazing people. I have made some of the most meaningful connections with other students and faculty through classes and student involvement. I also love that I get to experience outdoor, hands-on coursework throughout my studies.

Internship/Research Experience: This summer, I am continuing to work with the Ohio Division of Wildlife and have a second job as a Research Assistant at OSU. I am doing fisherman surveys for the Division at Kiser Lake, asking anglers about their trips and opinions on reservoir-specific regulations. At my OSU job, I work out of the Olentangy Wetlands and help with a variety of aquatic conservation projects.

Other Campus Involvements:

  • SENR Peer Leader
  • Undergraduate Research - Honors Thesis in Dr. Lauren Pintor's Lab
