USDA Forest Service Northern Research Station - Paid Opportunities

  • Multiple positions at the Allegheny National Forest (Irvine, PA) to assist with data collection for several different collaborative projects, including emerald ash borer, blight-resistant chestnut, and deer effects on understory vegetation.  Experience with data collection, tree identification, and herbaceous plant communities, is desired.  Housing is available.
  • Two positions at the USDA Forest Service lab in Delaware, Ohio to maintain experimental plantings of American elm for research on tolerance to Dutch elm disease.  Experience with data collection and operation of farm equipment is desired.  Housing is not available.
  • One part-time position at the Finger Lakes National Forest (Hector, NY) to assist in data collection for experimental restoration plantings.  Experience with data collection and ability to work independently is desired.  Housing is not available.  Because the work will be part-time and intermittent, it would be best suited for a local candidate with flexibility.

Application review begins March 23; please submit your application by this date to ensure consideration.  Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
